WOW KIDS

For us, children embody the hope and represent the greatest potential for change in an ailing and broken world. It is our job to equip and empower them, giving them the tools and direction needed to succeed beyond their wildest dreams.

Our Approach

At WOW we believe that our expectations for children can only be as great as the example we set and the support we provide for them. We strive to develop innovative approaches to education, health, and recreation with a focus on mentorship and a foundation on Biblical principles.

Our programs provide a safe and supportive environment for children to learn, play, and grow as they realize purpose, set and achieve goals, and prepare to lead their generation into the future.

By the Numbers

When it comes to negative outcomes for children in the city of Philadelphia, we recognize poverty at the intersection of failing systems of education, increased exposure to violence, and declining public health. Poverty is deeply rooted in systems of inequality and while we may not be able to unearth the cause, we do have the opportunity to reverse the outcomes through intervention and preventative measures to help end this savage generational cycle, and give our children a fighting chance.

34.6

percent of children live in poverty

in the city of Philadelphia, about twice the state and national average. Growing up in poverty can lead to adverse health outcomes in childhood that also carry through to adulthood.

18

percent of students scored proficient

or above on the PSSAs in math, 31% in reading within the Philadelphia school district. Studies show that functions of poverty have a direct correlation to academic performance.

110

Children were injured or killed by gun violence

in 2019 in the city of Philadelphia, while the number children suffering from trauma related to exposure to gun violence is even greater.
