W.O.W. Surf Camp

Imagine stepping off the plane and into a tropical paradise, where monkeys outnumber people, days are spent along seemingly endless stretches of unspoiled beaches, and post card worthy sunsets leave you speechless and in awe. Welcome to Nosara, Costa Rica, home of W.O.W. Surf Camp.

One of our flagship programs, W.O.W. Surf Camp is a unique experience where a celebration of nature intersects with the joy of surfing and the love of the Gospel. W.O.W. Surf Camp was founded on the idea that a change in place, along with a change of pace, leads to a change in perspective. Our goal at W.O.W. Surf Camp is to foster an experience that allows participants to slow down, be free of distractions,open up to trying new things, and start to see the world in a new way. Our hope is to create space that allows people to hear the voice of God speaking into their lives, answering a call and finding purpose, ultimately allowing him to work through them in ways they never imagined.

WHAT WE DO

We host guests from all over the world for week-long instructional surf programs here in Costa Rica, home to some of the most consistent waves on the planet. We provide lodging, meals, organized activities, and all the equipment necessary to learn how to surf or to build on your previous surf experience. In addition we offer a staff of ‘life counselors’ made up of travel & hospitality experts, professional surf instructors, and spiritual leaders to serve as guides during the week.

HOW WE DO IT

While our focus is on teaching people how to surf, W.O.W. Surf Camp is so much more than just surfing. Combined with experiences in nature, lessons from the Bible, volunteerism, and fellowship with others our hope is that participants dive below the surface and begin to discover purpose, seek direction, and find inspiration to grow. W.O.W. is more than a surf experience. It’s a life experience.

Through generous donations, sponsorship, partnerships and grants we are able to offset costs and offer surf scholarships to help overcome financial barriers, host special events that benefit visitors as well assist local communities, and dedicate time and resources to improving, expanding and adding value to our programming. Examples include our City Surfers and Adaptive Surf programs that work towards achieving equal access to surf, as well as our partnership with Casa Vida and Mercy Homes that build up our host community of Nosara through charitable outreach and assistance

WHO DO WE REACH

While we love hosting and always welcome people who are seeking out an amazing surf experience, we also strive to make surfing accessible to those who those who need surfing or might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. We reach out those who are suffering and in need of healing, individuals who need to unlearn unhealthy habits and learn productive ways of doing life, and those who represent seeds with potential for tremendous growth but are in need of healthy soil in order to bear good fruit. We serve those experiencing socioeconomic injustice, people who have been told they can’t or its not for them, and especially those who are in need of love.

WHY WE DO IT

We realize that doing what you love is great, but taking your passions and infusing them with purpose leads to loving what you do, and who you do it with. When purposed for Christ, our love of surfing and nature opens up doors for us to share an amazing experience with those who might not otherwise have the opportunity.

We believe in surfing as a modality of healing, learning, and growth, not just as it applies to the wind and the waves but how it also speaks to our physical, mental, and spiritual well-being; the development of the whole self. Ultimately we believe that God can change people through surfing.
